Town and Country Aerials Ltd have built up a large amount of knowledge and experience in Freeview digital TV installation & reception, having helped many customers through the digital switchover in Dorset and surrounding areas.

The four channels many of us grew up with have blossomed into the vast choice that we have today; this is only possible because of the change in the way that channels are now transmitted. Digital streams of data use the airwaves much more efficiently, and Freeview reception is built into all UK model TVs thus becoming the standard way to watch.

Digital TV has also brought us Freeview HD with wonderful high definition picture quality. Whatever kind of program you like to watch, your reception is all down to receiving a high quality signal in the first place, so please do not be tempted to overlook that all important aerial. Although modern aerials are designed for digital TV reception, older aerials can still work satisfactorily. The key thing to remember is that the aerial and cable must be in good condition and all other components such as boosters and splitters must be fully screened.

To enable good quality Freeview reception the aerial in particular must:

• Have as good a line of sight to the transmitter as possible
• Be accurately aligned using the correct meter
• Be securely mounted, weatherproof and safe
• Have all connections correctly terminated
• Use double screened coax cable of CAI approved standard
• All other components must be fully screened
• The finished job needs to be tested and all equipment tuned and demonstrated
